Answer

Is there multiplayer in Transport Fever 3?

No. Transport Fever 3 ships as a single-player game, and Urban Games says multiplayer is not planned for after launch either.

This is the question we see most often about Transport Fever 3, partly because the official store page never addresses it. The Steam listing lists Single-player and nothing else. There is no "Online Co-op" category, no multiplayer tag, and no mention of it in any store description.

That silence is not the whole answer, so here is the direct confirmation. At Gamescom 2026 the German channel Täglich Angespielt collected questions from its audience and put them to Urban Games in person. One viewer asked about multiplayer. The answer was that it will not exist, and that it is planned neither for release nor for later.

Why the modding angle keeps coming up

Every time Urban Games talks about Transport Fever 3, modding comes up. Practically every new feature was designed from the start to be changed or extended later, the studio is bringing back official documentation, and a large part of the codebase moved out of C++ into Lua. That is why the multiplayer answer usually ends with a shrug and a maybe-someone-will-mod-it.

That shrug is not a promise. Urban Games has not said a multiplayer mod is coming, and no mod team has announced one.

What to do if you want to play with someone else

  • Plan for a single-player game. Everything in the campaign and the sandbox is built around one player running a network.
  • If you and a friend both want to build, you can share saves rather than the world. Steam Cloud handles the sync.
  • Watch the mod hub after launch. Cross-platform mod support exists from day one, which makes it easier for a mod to spread if someone writes one.

If cooperative play is a must-have for you, this is the one feature that will decide whether you buy Transport Fever 3 at all. Nothing else in the release is structured around playing together.

FAQ

Will Transport Fever 3 get multiplayer later?

Urban Games has said it is not planned at launch or afterwards. Nothing in the official material points to a post-launch multiplayer update.

Did Transport Fever 2 have multiplayer?

No. Transport Fever 2 is single-player as well. Players who wanted to share a world used community mods, not a built-in mode.

Can a mod add multiplayer?

Urban Games rebuilt much of the game so that almost every new feature can be modified, and large parts of the code moved from C++ to Lua. That gives modders more access than in previous games, but nobody has committed to building a multiplayer mod.

Is Transport Fever 3 playable offline?

The base game is single-player, so yes. The store page lists no online requirement.
