Transport Fever 3 on PS5
PS5 is a day-one platform, and it is the version most reviewers played. Console players get the same in-game mod hub as PC, plus full controller support — and no PS4, no Switch and no multiplayer, in any version.
Last verified: September 20, 2026
Transport Fever 3 is the first game in the series to reach a console, and it does it on day one rather than a year later. That makes the PS5 version the mainstream entry point — and it is also the version most of the launch reviews were written on.

What the PS5 reviewers actually said
Metro's GameCentral gave the PS5 version 7/10. Their praise went to control and interface: complete control over every part of a transport network, menus that prove workable with a controller, and enough detail to zoom in and visit individual citizens. Their complaints were about onboarding, not about the console: the tutorials assume you already know how buildings connect, and there is no undo or redo anywhere in the game.
GAMES.CH, reviewing the PS5 version, was warmer about the ramp: they describe the tutorial campaign as gentler than in the previous two games, with eight scenarios that unlock in sequence — six travelling through the 20th century from 1906 to 1999, then two final chapters in 2015 and 2033. Their advice to new players was simply to actually play the tutorials before turning them off.
Read the score against your own habits. The 7/10 is a general-audience verdict on a deep management sim. The interface complaints are about tutorials, not about the controller.
Why the mod hub matters most on console
On most simulation games a console release means a smaller mod selection, or none. Urban Games built its own hub partly to avoid that, and the studio's own framing was that nobody should feel like a second-class player because they are on a console. Practically, that means a PS5 player opens the same curated list — over 50 mods prepared for launch — that a PC player sees, without a Steam account in the middle.
What console players do not get
- No PS4 version. The simulation load scales with what you build, which is the argument against older hardware.
- No Nintendo Switch version, which the studio confirmed ahead of launch.
- No multiplayer, cross-play or co-op — the whole series is single-player and Urban Games has ruled a multiplayer mode out for release and afterwards.
- No performance tuning of the kind PC players do: you cannot change render settings to rescue a map that is too large, so map size and town count are your levers.
PS5 or PC?
| If you want | Buy on |
|---|---|
| Couch play with a controller | PS5 |
| The same mod list as everyone else | Either — the hub is platform-independent |
| To tune performance on a huge map | PC |
| The deepest long-term mod catalogue | PC, once the hub library grows |
| The cheapest way in, ever | Whichever store has the loyalty discount that applies to you |
The loyalty discount for Transport Fever 2 owners only applies on the platform where you already own the previous game, so it usually decides this question.
This page will be updated with measured PS5 performance once we can verify it. Reviews were written on review builds, and console patch notes are not published in the same detail as PC ones.
FAQ
Is Transport Fever 3 on PS5?
Yes, it launched on PS5 alongside PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 29, 2026. It is the first game in the series to appear on a console at all.
Is there a PS4 version?
No. Nothing has been announced for PlayStation 4, and the simulation load — every resident, vehicle and pedestrian calculated individually — is the reason a last-generation console is unlikely to be supported.
Do you get mods on the PS5 version?
Yes. Transport Fever 3 replaced the Steam Workshop with an in-game mod hub that is not tied to Steam, which is exactly why console players see the same curated list as PC players.
Does it work well with a controller?
Reviewers who played the PS5 version said the menus are workable with a controller — Metro called the interface design well thought out. Expect more menu depth than a typical console game, because this is a management sim.
Is there multiplayer on PS5?
No. Transport Fever 3 is single-player on every platform, and there is no cross-play to discuss because there is no multiplayer mode at all.
How much does the PS5 version cost?
The Standard Edition is $49.99 in the US, with a Digital Deluxe tier above it. Swiss retailer GAMES.CH listed SFr. 49.90 and SFr. 64.90 for the two editions.
